To find any Act, Ordinance and President’s Order or its any Part, Chapter and Section the ‘Laws of Bangladesh’ webpage has built a search procedure through a search menu. To get the Search option, click on the ‘Laws of Bangladesh’ from the ‘Home’ page.
Mainly, there are 11 search methods available in this search menu. These are - (1) Free Text, (2) Short Title, (3) Act No., (4) Year, (5) Part Name, (6) Chapter, (7) Section, (8) Advanced search, (9) Alphabetical Index, (10) Chronological Index.

Free Text
The text that is typed in the Free Text search box is searched within the Section details of all laws and displays a list of the Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders those contain that text. e.g. if you like to search the text �Water Development� within in any Section under any Act, Ordinance or Order, type it in the Free Text search box and click �Submit�. A result will appear with a list of Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders those containing the word �Water Development� in one or more sections (Figure 2 and 2A).

The list displayed in Figure 2a shows 5 Acts/Ordinances each of which contains types of information i.e. (i) Act and Ordinance name, (ii) First one or two lines of the Section that contains the search item and (iii) Act and Ordinance number where one or more of its sections contain the search text.
Short Title
With this search procedure you can find the search-text within the Title of the Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders. For Example: You typed �Finance Act� in the �Short Title� search entry box. The search procedure will search the hole text � �Finance Act� within the Title of all Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders and will display a list.(Figure 3 and Figure 3a).

Act No.
With this search procedure you can find all the Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders those match with that Act number you typed in the search entry-box. In the similar way you can find your desired Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders with other search options like �Year, Part, Chapter and Section name.
Advanced Search
With the Advanced Search feature, you can find and view your desired Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders within an specific Volume. Here as many entry boxes are used, more quickly and precisely you can find your desired Section of an Act, Ordinance or President�s Order. (Figure 4 shows the Advanced search entry boxes).

If you already know about �Laws of Bangladesh� to some extent or advanced, such as � you know the Volume number, Act Year and the Section name, you will be able to find your desired Section quickly by entering the corresponding search entry boxes.
Example:
i) To see all Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders of the year 1984 of Volume No. 20, select Volume No. from the dropdown list and then type 1984 in the box named �Year� and hit �Enter� or click �Search� button.
ii) If you like to see the Section 7 of the Act No. XIX of Year 1977 then fill in the search entry boxes named �Year� �Act No.� and �Section No.� with corresponding data and hit �Enter� or click �Search� button.
iii) If you want to see a Section details that you don�t know the Number of that Section but you know only the Volume No., year of the Act and Act No., then you can see all the sections under that Act. To do so, select Volume No., type the known year of the Act and then Act No. and click �Search� button.
Alphabetical Order Index
A list of Alphabets (both in Bangla and English) are displayed in the �Search� menu. You can select an Alphabet to match with the first character of all Short Titles under each Act/Ordinance/President�s Order and get the list. For example: If you click the letter �D�, all the acts with their �Short Title� started with �D� will be displayed (Figure 5).

Chronological Order Index
In this search method you can see all the Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders within a range of years. All these Acts, Ordinances or President�s Orders from 1836 to 2008 are arranged in 39 indexes. Click on any of the index to get a list of acts within that range of years. From this list you can select any Act/Ordinance or President�s Order to see the details.
